Bataan Memorial Death March
The Bataan Memorial Death March is an annual ruck marathon held at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
The event has been held for 36 years in honor of the POWs who lost their lives during World War II. Eighty years ago, thousands of U.S. and Filipino soldiers on the Philippine Peninsula surrendered after being overwhelmed by Japanese forces. These troops were taken as prisoners of war and forced to endure a brutal 65-mile march through the jungles of the Philippines without adequate food, water, or medical attention. Over the course of the march, approximately 10,000 service members lost their lives.
This year, we plan to take a dedicated team of five cadets who consistently attend our weekly ruck practices and are committed to honoring the legacy of the march. The funds raised will help support these cadets by covering expenses for lodging, food, gas, and virtual registration fees.
