The mission of the Natural Reserve System is to contribute to the understanding and wise management of the Earth and its natural systems by supporting university-level teaching, research, and public service at protected natural areas throughout California. UC Santa Barbara manages seven diverse reserves including Sedgwick Reserve, a world-class research, conservation and education facility located in Santa Barbara County's Santa Ynez Valley. Gifts to the Sedgwick Reserve enable UCSB to continue managing this large, diverse area while educating students of all ages about the outdoor world.
