Support Our Cadets at the Bataan Memorial Death March

Every year, participants from across the country gather at White Sands Missile Range to take part in one of the most meaningful endurance events in the nation, a ruck marathon dedicated to honoring the prisoners of war who suffered and died during World War II.

More than 80 years ago, thousands of U.S. and Filipino soldiers were captured in the Philippines and forced to endure a brutal 65-mile march without adequate food, water, or medical care. Nearly 10,000 service members lost their lives. The Bataan Memorial Death March exists to ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

This year, we are proud to send a dedicated team of five UCSB ROTC cadets who have consistently shown commitment by attending weekly ruck practices and training together for months. These cadets aren’t just preparing for a physical challenge, but they’re carrying forward a legacy of resilience, service, and remembrance. Your support helps make this possible. Funds raised will directly support our cadets by covering: Lodging, food during travel and competition, gas and transportation, and virtual registration fees. Every contribution, big or small, goes straight toward ensuring these cadets can honor the fallen while representing our program with pride. For our cadets, Bataan is more than a march. It’s a living history lesson. It’s a test of discipline and teamwork. And most importantly, it’s a chance to pay respect to those who endured unimaginable hardship.

By donating, you’re not just supporting a trip; you’re helping preserve memories, build future leaders, and honor heroes. Your support empowers our cadets to step forward in remembrance and service.
